John F. Kennedy was born on May 29, 1917.  John was the second of 9 children. When he was 2 years old, he had scarlet fever, a deadly illness. Luckliy he did not die from it. John’s family was rich. When John was 10, he became a Boy Scout. He asked his father for money to buy scout supplies. His father agreed.

Ever since his big brother Joe’s death, John was thinking of granting his father’s wish. In 1946 John ran for Congress.  He won.  In 1953 John married Jackie Bouvier. Jackie cared for John.

John decided to run for president. His vice president was Lyndon Johnson. He was running against Richard Nixon. After the debate, 3 millon people voted for JFK! His president dream came true.

John thought that USA needed to help other countries. So he created the Peace Corps. JFK wanted a second term. So he went to Texas to persuade people to vote for him. There he was shot and killed. He was only 46. So sad!
